In its four decades of existence, the Assembly Point Association has proven to be a remarkable neighborhood association with goals of assuring a great quality of life for its members while also preserving a remarkable natural resource--Lake George in New York's Adirondack Park.
Assembly Point is a narrow peninsula on the east side of Lake George's southern basin. The point is approximately 1.5 miles long and a little over a quarter of mile wide. The Association has played an important role in the community life of the "point's" some 200 families," all the while assuring the safety and health of beautiful Lake George.
The Association has been active and influential in a wide variety of projects and improvements such as clean-up days, beautification efforts, road improvements, road signs, speed limit controls, spot zoning issues in the 1960s, zoning in the town of Queensbury in the 1980s and town septic ordinance.
The Association also serves as a source of information for Queensbury boards and councils, the Lake George Park Commission and the Lake George Association. It also provides financial and public relations support to the North Queensbury Fire and Rescue Squads, the Mountainside Library, the Lake George Association and the Lake George Fund.
